Speak now or forever hold your peace.

Peace in jail that is.

Your mother probably told you one or twice “if you don’t have anything good to say, then don’t say anything at all.”

Once upon a time when we lived in a free country we could speak our minds, or we could refuse to speak entirely. But, now, if you don’t say anything at all well we can charge you because only a guilty person would refuse to answer questions. of course only a guilty person would run too.

‘No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb, nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation.’

The Supreme Court said a person claiming the protection of the Fifth Amendment cannot do so simply by remaining silent.

Oh, well that makes sense. maybe they know something we don’t. but, who cares about that, did you watch the NBA Finals? (sarcasm)
